"I like making things, breaking things, fixing things and generally figuring out how the world works. I like creating, crafting, building, writing, tinkering, fiddling, cooking, puttering, thinking and problem solving. I like nature and I like technology. I like vintage and I like gadgets. "
If this blog has a mission statement that would be it. The past few years have seen my interests shift dramatically from standard computer geek fare to pre-industrial woodworking. I've run long and hard with pretty much my only serious hobby being woodworking and am now finally coming up for air these past few months. I've not lost interest in the craft by a long shot but I've also reawakened my passion for other forms of creation and learning. I've realized that I actually do still enjoy custom building computer systems, playing video games, building and admining Unix boxen, blogging and of course brewing. Not only that but I've also taken a interest in electronics and circuit design ala Make Magazine and have a long road of learning ahead of me for that. My passion for food and cooking was never really pushed aside but it has certainly gained new prominence for me now that I've discovered charcuterie - the French art of food preservation.
What you can expect from this part of the blog, that is the Work Shop, is posts about all the creative goodness I get up to. The workshop includes the kitchen and brewery by the way, so I if I make a table or smoke a ham expect to read about it here. Well that's the idea at least. To get things started I'll try to back fill in a few older projects worth showing off and I'm documenting the build for small tool cabinet that I hope to post on every day that I work on it.
Cheers!
